2. What is scabies?
- The etiological agent ( organism mainly responsible for changes in a host animal, leading to the disease , such as a pathogen , a microorganism or an infectious germ ) of this disease is Sarcoptes scabiei var. suis and the biological cycle requires about 15 days (14 to 21) to complete. The main form of transmission of the disease is direct contact between sick pigs and healthy pigs; also by sudden change in temperature, humidity; by contact with earth, grass, trees, ... However, the most important role is played by chronically infected animals that abundantly host mites in the ear flap and on other parts of the body. The infestation can also be caused by mites present in the environment, as they can survive outside the host for several days and move up to one meter. In addition, the transport of the parasite by cleaning tools has been described.

- Can be fatal in pigs in the most severe forms.
- Can be transmitted to humans (no danger of death in this case, but if infection itching, scratching may occur, consult a doctor in this case who will prescribe a suitable ointment/cream).

3.Symptoms

4.Prevention(s)

5. Treatments

- Atropine.
