Bringing home a miniature pig
Picture an ordinary morning with your pig. Where will they wake up warm and dry? Where can they root in the soil? Who will check the water and the gate? Working through those questions before collection day makes it easier to welcome a piglet home.
Walk the pen before your piglet arrives
Follow the fence all the way round. Look for gaps at ground level and check the corners and gate latch. Set aside a shaded area, some earth for rooting and a dry, ventilated shelter out of the wind. Add clean bedding and leave enough space for the pig to retreat and rest.
Pigs are social animals. Talk to us about a suitable pig companion and how to introduce them. If you send us photos of your setup, point out the shelter, water and gate so we can picture it.

Plan the first meals
Before collection, ask us for the exact feed your piglet eats, their usual portion and feeding times. Have the same feed ready for the first meals and provide a sturdy water bowl they can reach at all times. If you intend to change feeds, plan the transition with your vet.
Take four things home in writing
Keep a note of the piglet’s feeding routine, their daily habits, the number of a vet who treats pigs and our farm’s contact details. Ask which records will travel with your piglet and keep them together. If you live outside Belgium, discuss the journey and destination requirements with us before setting a collection date.
Let your piglet set the pace
Show them where the water is and give them a quiet chance to explore. Sit nearby and let them decide when to approach. Keep feeding times familiar. Notice whether they eat, drink and move around as usual. If they seem unwell or something changes unexpectedly, contact your vet.
For questions about your piglet’s habits, send us their name and tell us what you’ve noticed. A photo of their pen can help us understand your question.
